Photos of the 2011 EBF Focus Meeting "Large meets Small"
The second Focus Meeting organised by the European Bioanalysis Forum attracted a good international fearless*) crowd of a bit over 180 scientists from academia, industry and contract service organisations.A conference report is being prepared by the Organising Committee (to be published in Bioanalysis) and soon the slide decks will be made available on the meeting website.
In the mean time you can already view and/or download the pictures by visiting either the EBF Facebook page or our Picasa album.

EBF membership open to CROs
As presented during the 3rd Open Symposium in Barcelona in 2010, EBF has changed its structure and has slightly adapted her groundrules to facilitate CROs becoming a member of the European Bioanalysis Forum. CROs being interested to become a member of EBF are advised to view the attached slide deck:
Donwload the EBF-CRO integration slide deck (pdf)
and submit an EBF member company application form.

Are Bioanalysts afraid of Grimsvotn?
Only 4 weeks left before the “Large meets Small” focus meeting organized by the European Bioanalysis Forum kicks off and we have a volcanic eruption in Iceland again. Not Eyjafjallajokull, but Grimsvotn this time. Did the first one ruin the travelling home of many of our colleagues after the Dried Blood Spots focus meeting, this one seems to behave better. At least it erupts well before the meeting and not on the 22nd of June!

EBF 4th Open Symposium - Call for Speakers - Call for Posters
1st Call for Speakers
European Bioanalysis Forum
4th Open Symposium
Less is More
16-18 November 2011
Hesperia Tower Hotel
Hesperia Tower Hotel
Barcelona • Spain
INTRODUCTION
Over 400 participants contribute to the success of the EBF Open Symposia in Barcelona. Building further on this event, EBF announces the 4th Open Symposium. The meeting will be held in Barcelona at the Hesperia Tower Conference Center from the 16th – 18th November 2011.
With the theme of the 4th open Symposium being "Less is More", EBF wants to focus on new trends in Bioanalysis in which scientists are eager to get more value from an optimized regulatory environment (where global harmonization can bring relief by decreasing the number of different guidelines) and from new technology developments (allowing miniaturization and increased sensitivity). Again, we will be bringing a versatile and diverse program that combines regulated bioanalysis themes (including updates on EMA guidelines and GBC progress) with technological and scientific developments for small and large molecule bioanalysis.
MEETING SESSIONS will include
• Biomarker validation recommendation
• Effect of hemolysed / lipidemic / ”off target” matrices on bioanalytical assays
• Regulations and Bioanalysis - update on new and emerging guidelines and on Global harmonization
• Technology updates
• The relationship between Incurred Sample Reanalysis and Incurred Sample Stability
• Micro dosing versus micro tracer – AMS or sensitive traditional analysis
• Challenges of "free" and "total" macromolecule quantification
• Dried Blood Spots - updates on blood analysis
• Further focus on LBA - topic to be announced
• Anomalous results
For details on the goals and objectives of each session, please visit the conference website at http://bcn2011.europeanbioanalysisforum.eu/
CALL FOR SPEAKERS
Potential speakers, please submit the title and abstract of your presentation (before 15 September 2011) to conference address: bcn2011@europeanbioanalysisforum.eu including a completed oral presentation submission form available on the conference website. Acceptance of your presentation will be communicated before 30 September 2011.
CALL FOR POSTERS
Please submit the title and abstract of your poster (before 15 October 2011) to conference address: bcn2011@europeanbioanalysisforum.eu including a completed poster presentation submission form available on the conference website. Supported Poster format is Portrait (size A0).
